Hand Cut Screen Print
The objective of the hand cut, one color screen print project was to produce five high quality one color screen prints on paper of a image we selected. I had to find a design that was easy, medium, or hard. The difficulty of the design determined what grade I could receive. The harder the design, the better the grade. My design was hard in difficulty. I wanted a good grade. First, I had to practice cutting stencil film. Then, I had to hand cut the stencil. Next, I had to adhere the stencil to the screen. After letting it dry for thirty minutes, I could remove the plastic backing. Then, I masked the non-image areas with masking tape. Now I was ready to print.
I enjoyed cutting the stencil, but it was tedious and I was not happy with the end result of the hand cut print. There was a star above the (i) in virtue which did not come out after live tracing the image.
